Specific physical therapy for the spine is recommended at 6-8 weeks after the IDET* procedure. Therapy will be individualized to the patient depending on diagnosis and progress. While pain reduction may occur over 3-4 months, a return to heavy work may require 4-6 months.

  • Light lifting is allowed at 6 weeks.
  • Aggressive exercise should be delayed for at least 12 weeks, maybe longer.
  • No chiropractic manipulation or massage for the first 12 weeks.
  • No traction or inversion traction for the first 12 weeks.
